Do not wash in dishwasher in order to extend boards life.

Care and Maintenance for your Bamboo Cutting Boards

With proper maintenance and care, our Bamboo boards will enjoy a long and useful life in your kitchen. Follow these easy steps to care for your new Bamboo products:

1. Wash Bamboo boards after each use with a solution of mild dish soap and warm water. Apply liberally with a sponge and rinse thoroughly after the surface is clean. Dry thoroughly with a clean, dry cloth and let Bamboo boards stand on their side to dry as needed. (not flat so water doesn’t stay on board)

2. Apply food grade mineral oil to your Bamboo boards before using for the first time, and at least once per month thereafter. This will preserve the beauty of the wood. Make sure the mineral oil is listed as food grade, or purchase oil designed specifically for bamboo cutting boards. Apply a small amount of mineral oil to a clean cotton cloth, rub the oil in thoroughly to the boards and allow to soak for 20 – 30 minutes before wiping away with a clean dry cloth.

4. Do not use your Bamboo boards as a resting place for hot pans or baking sheets. The heat may not damage the board right away, but over time, it can cause your board to dry out. Dry Bamboo boards are susceptible to cracking.

5. Remove stains from Bamboo boards by applying a small amount of salt to the affected area on the board. Pour the salt on to the affected area and then soak a clean sponge in hot water. Rub the salt with the sponge until the stain is removed and apply additional salt to the affected area as needed. Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth.

6. Never put Bamboo boards in the dishwasher, as this will cause damage to the finish that can not be repaired. In addition, never apply vinegar or undiluted bleach to bamboo cutting boards.
